Robert Karban (ESO) - Teamleader Robert Karban is Software Engineer at the European Southern Observatory (ESO), developing highly distributed real-time control systems for telescopes since 1996. His current main task is the modeling and development of interdisciplinary systems, in particular the control system of the E-ELT. His roles have varied from project manager to developer, including mentoring, standards development, and training courses. He has been a regular presenter at INCOSE, SPIE, and ICALEPCS conferences. Robert leads also the INCOSE Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Challenge team on Telescope Modeling with SysML since 2007, providing practical applications of SysML in the astronomy domain, and contributes to the RTFs of the OMG. Robert Karban received his M.S. in computer science in 1990 from the Technical University of Vienna, Austria. Afterward, he worked several years in the Medical Engineering industry and developed in the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) embedded control software for accelerator control systems. |

Tim Weilkiens (oose) Tim Weilkiens, managing director of the German consultancy oose GmbH, is a member of INCOSE MBSE Challenge Team SE^2 (Telescope modeling). He is also an active member of the OMG working groups about SysML and UML and has written sections of the SysML specification. |

Rudolf Hauber (HOOD) Rudolf Hauber is a senior consultant and responsible for aerospace and defense at HOOD Group Germany’s leading requirements management consulting company and takes care of all requirements modeling activities at HOOD Group. Before that, he managed the technology transfer center of a software consulting company. Rudi has over 15 years of experience in modeling in many large projects, trained UML methods, and published articles and conference presentations. His current interests are use case modeling and system engineering. He started his career as an OO scientist at the University of Munich. |

Michele Zamparelli (ESO) Michele Zamparelli has worked since 1998 at the European Southern Observatory with tasks related to configuration control, Quality Control, automated inspection, build systems and tool support. |

Rainer Diekmann Rainer Diekmann, who works as an independent consultant in the aerospace industry, joins the INCOSE MBSE Challenge Team SE^2 (Telescope modeling) a year ago. He work(ed)s in system engineering projects focussing on MBSE, using different modeling approaches like UML, SysML, and IDEF. |
